    Connection Hosts

First and foremost, you will never take anyone publicly where you are not going privately so as a Connection Host the most important thing is your personal relationship with God.

You know you are empowered by the Holy Spirit and this is not something you take lightly, but something that is a powerful combination of you, the gifts God has given you, and the empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

Remember to explain everything in the light of a person who is brand new, therefore talk about each of the things we "do" at Cityhope like you are telling someone for the very first time. Also, be sharing the heart/vision behind the event or initiative, not just the facts.

We believe culture either happens by default or by design. Rather than allowing our feelings, upbringing, or the standards of our society take the lead, our goal is to intentionally and consistently create the culture and language at Cityhope.

    Definitions

The following definitions are provided to create common language around ensure we are communicating key and accurate information.

We will use these to define the purpose and vision of the event or initiative of Cityhope Church.

However you articulate this during your connections or announcements, make sure the following key elements are communicated.

    • Giving:
Generosity is a core value here at Cityhope and we want to reflect that in the way we steward our finances.

    • We believe in the biblical principal of the tithe, that is bringing our first 10% to God. This is just the beginning of our willingness to partner with God in every area of our lives as we endeavour to live from a place of generosity!

    • Practically, that's giving 10% of our income to the work of the local church and then additionally, in an act of generosity giving further, as Holy Spirit leads, to one off offerings or our annual Legacy offering.

    • We are not asking you for your money, we are asking you to ask God what and how you should give knowing that there are key promises and benefits to walking in step with God in what we have been entrusted with.

    Pathway:

    • Pathway is a one-hour introduction to our Cityhope - where we've come from, where we are going and how you can come and be part of the journey.

    • Meet some of our team and others new to Cityhope.

    • Happening monthly during the service.

    Find Your Place:
God created us to live in community with others and here at Cityhope we want you to find a place to belong and have authentic connection throughout the week by being a part of a group.

    Make a Difference:
We believe that God can work powerfully through the gifts and talents He has given you to ‘Make a Difference’ in the lives of others by joining a team here at Cityhope

    ALPHA:
ALPHA is a series of interactive sessions that explore life, faith and meaning in a safe and open environment.’

    Child Dedications:
Child Dedications is a special opportunity for your Cityhope family to pray for and dedicate your child’s life to God while committing as a parent/guardian to raise your child in the ways of God.

    Vision Series:
Each year, Ps. Mark casts a vision for our church and in 2023 that is “COMMITTED TO SERVE”. Serve my neighbour, community, church and God

    Baptism:
Baptism is an outward reflection of an inward decision to follow Jesus. Baptism is your next step in becoming a Christian after a salvation prayer and we would love to help you on your journey on faith. You can find more information and register your interest at cityhope.com.au

    Hosting a Service

We are pivoting towards "hour long service times" which means that the times given or allotted to you on a run sheet are there on purpose and as you prepare you need to be mindful of them when delivering.
Please be 100% aware of the different timings and elements in a service that you are responsible for.

    PRE-SERVICE

    • 7:45am - Arrive so you are ready for 8:00AM sound check with band.

      • Give the media team your verses upon arrival as needed.

    • 8:30am - Pre-Service meeting and prayer, run by Campus Pastor/s

    • 8:35am - Speaker sound check

      • Please practice your final connection during this time

    SERVICE

    • 9:00am Announcement Line “Our service will begin in under 2 minutes so please come and take your seats keeping in mind the current seating requirements”

    • Prayer Connection

      • Time is 18-21 minutes for Worship + Connections.

      • Our role is to lean into whatever God moment is happening, partnering with the WL in the stewardship of the moment.

      • You need to make sure you are aware of the final song so if you feel as though you have a word or encouragement and would like to go "back into a song” or  “sing after your connection" then come up before the bridge  of that final song and deliver.

      • Never forget - you are not the preacher, your role is to move the ball up the field.

    • Transition line - "As you take your seats why not wave to someone you might not know on your row."

    • New Person Focus- "Specific welcome to new people. Please direct them to the card on their seat and specifically ask them to register for our next Pathway.

    • Post Message – If you are asked to do an Altar Call

      • Salvation altar calls must contain the following elements:

        • "Jesus, I believe in you and today I invite you into my life as my Lord and Saviour. I’m sorry for living life my own way and want to go a new way in following you. Today I choose to live for you for the rest of my days. Amen"

        • Next Step - If you made a decision today PLEASE head to our website and let us know, we do not want you to do this journey alone!

    • Post Message - No Altar Call:

      • Post-preach your opening line can be to offer the prayer team as a point of contact if you would like to take that next step in following Jesus.

      • Your second line would be to reference the QR stickers on the chair backs that will take people to a link-tree offering them the following menu:

        • I've made a decision to follow Jesus!

        • I want to find my place here!

        • I'm ready to make a difference!

        • What's my next step?

        • What's coming up?

      • You would then proceed to your connection card for following announcements.

    • Announcements

      • There will normally be some announcements with or without a video, so you need to run over details, cost, location, time, how they get involved etc and be well versed to put your weight behind that - this includes being aware of the definitions we are using above

    • Offering

      • See definition on giving

      • Take 2 minutes to explain how to give and the blurb line around what we believe as a church

      • Please think about a testimony or personal story that could complement and build faith around the blurb.

    • Close

      • Here are the steps you must follow post final advert or announcement

      • Lead line - 'Church, lets stand to our feet'

      • PRAYER TEAM - We believe in the power of prayer so we have a prayer team down the front that would love to pray with you after the service, But right now, let me pray as we all go out into our week.

      • CLOSING PRAYER - Pray PASSIONATELY for 10-15 secs | this is a BOLD, LIFE GIVING PRAYER. MUST close prayer with - 'Amen'

      • Upon 'Amen' media will start service close video.

      • CLOSING LINE - 10 seconds to encourage connection in the foyer post-service.

As a connection host it is imperative that you are teachable and committed to improvement. Therefore, immediately following the service, please see Ps. Mark or Ps. Ryan for any feedback they have from the service.

    Running Prayer Meeting

Prayer meetings happen at 8:30am every Sunday morning, and run for 7-8 minutes to allow the Guest Services team to be stationed in their positions by 8:40am.

Please ensure each prayer meeting involves the following elements:

    1. Orientation to the Service.
Highlight any key elements during or after service

    2. Celebration Moment (if applicable)
Celebrate anyone serving on team for the first time, or a personal accomplishment in a team member's life

    3. Prayer
This is the main component to the prayer meeting and should be at least 5 minutes of storming heaven. Choose 3-4 areas to pray into (specific team, specific people, moves of God, salvations etc) but each week, without exception we must pray for the preaching of the Word of God, the preacher, and Ps. Mark.
